Lost iPhone 5 Prototype

Today I came across an article called, “Police investigating accusations in bizarre lost iPhone 5 case” and decided to see what the fuss was about. As it turns out, someone who was in charge of the new iPhone 4 prototype lost the prototype. This incident happened in 2010 when the Apple Engineer went to a bar to celebrate his birthday. He lost the case and it was picked up by some other person and when they found out it was missing, it was immediately tracked down by Apple. Apple tracked it to a house in San Francisco and when they went to search they found nothing. This incident repeated itself this year with the new iPhone 5 prototype. This time it was left in a tequila bar in San Francisco. Once again they tracked the device, but this time the police was involved. The police searched the house and found nothing, they even searched the Man’s computer incase he plugged the device in at some point. This happened in July and they still haven’t found the iPhone 5. They haven’t even found the iPhone 4 prototype either.

I truly think Apple needs to take better care of their Apple devices. They especially need to be careful with their prototypes because they seem to misplace and lose them a lot. When Apple lose their devices and get the police involved they get people in trouble and make the police look like terrible people. When the police was involved in looking for the iPhone 5 they searched a guy named Sergio Calderón. They were actually threatening him and asking if everyone in living in his house was a citizen. That made the police look awfully bad and that would’ve never happened if Apple never lost their prototypes.

  1. Jocelyn, I thought this article was interesting as well. It makes me wonder if someone working for Apple is purposely losing the prototypes as a way to leak information. I thought you provided a clear, organized summary of the article. Nice job!

  3. Jocelyn great post. It's funny that the Apple Company would lose such a great device. Well one thing is for a fact; it was in the wrong hands. If information is leaked well its a lesson learned for them.

  4. Jocelyn, this is pretty ridiculous. A multi-billion dollar company can now take care of there own "prototypes". This makes me think they are doing this just so Apple can create a fuss over what is new and everybody can try to get their hands on one when it comes out.

  5. jocelyn, i really think this is the funniest thing i have read on a blog so far. when you think of someone stealing a prototype, you really wonder, are you serious. is someone this irresponsible that you would take the phone to 2, in which you lose them both.
